Laser Surgery

Laser Surgery

A laser is an instrument that produces a very narrow, intense beam of light energy. When laser light comes in contact with tissue, it causes a reaction. The light produced by the laser can remove or shape tissue.

The lasers have been used in dentistry since 1990. Lasers can be used as a safe and effective treatment for a wide range of dental procedures and are often used in conjunction with other dental instruments.

Laser Periodontal Therapy

The new standard of care for periodontal disease is Laser Periodontal Treatment. If you have been told that you need gum surgery or you have periodontal disease, this new technology replaces cutting of the gum tissue with a scalpel and does not require stitches. This means an easy recovery with minimal bleeding, which preserves gum tissue, reduces root exposure and sensitivity and is reasonably priced as compared to traditional gum surgery.

Dr. Gorodetsky is fully trained and licensed to perform laser periodontal treatment procedures that greatly reduces the pain and recovery time associated with traditional gum surgery used for treating gum disease.

Laser Bacterial Reduction

Laser bacterial reduction is a comprehensive technique to treat chronic periodontitis. Use the laser light to eliminate periodontal pathogens and promote the return of the periodontium to a state of health.

Laser Gum Treatment

A modern option for treating gum disease is non-surgical laser gum treatment. A laser gum treatment is a minimally invasive procedure that is much safer and less painful – and the patient heals much faster than with traditional methods. Non-surgical laser gum treatments use laser light to selectively remove the diseased, inflamed gum tissue, and leave the healthy gum tissue alone. No cutting is necessary, and there’s very little bleeding. Laser gum treatments are performed without pulling the gum tissue back away from the jaw. This treatment also uses the laser light to seal the blood vessels and nerve endings during the procedure. This is critically important because it significantly reduces pain after the procedure and allows patients to return to normal activities immediately afterward. The other improvement is the laser’s ability to kill bacteria on contact. This leaves the treated area free of bacteria which promotes more rapid healing of the treatment area. The laser softens calculus (tartar) and makes it easier to remove. The wonderful part of having laser gum treatment is that you are able to return to normal activities immediately. Because of the laser’s ability to seal blood vessels and nerve endings, it virtually eliminates bleeding and pain during and after the procedure is finished. No anesthesia is required. Recovery starts immediately. The pain after the procedure is minimal and short (usually in 2 days or less). There is no need for medication.

Herpes Treatments

Recurrent infection with herpes virus is a common disease. The most effective treatment that has been recently introduced is a low-intensity laser therapy.

There are a number of reasons why laser sessions are now the gold standard in the treatment of cold sores. Light energy destroys the local virus that causes cold sores to form. Patients who undergo laser therapy can prevent or diminish ulceration from occurring through photo-biostimulation technology. Laser treatments can prevent future cosmetic damage by lessening the probability of cold sores recurring on the same areas of the lips.

Treatment of gummy smile

A smile line is an aesthetic zone which shows your teeth when you are smiling. You will have an attractive smile if there is minimum gum tissue showing.

One of the most effective methods to treat a gummy smile is dental laser treatment. In laser treatment, the dentist comfortably and efficiently removes all the excess gum tissue.

In this procedure, a concentrated beam of the laser is directed towards the excess gum tissue. What makes it more comfortable is that the laser does not produce any sort of vibration.
